The dead zone in question being February. What a shitty month. Nobody likes it. It's always cold. It's got a lot fewer days to still pay ALL of your bills. What's to like? Valentine's Day?
Phooey.
Anyway, got out to a couple of movies. Weird thing about these theaters I've gone to lately, they don't have the fucking movie poster up for us to take a photo with. Tons of movie posters for movies not showing up for another 3 months...
Saw Presence. It sucked, though it had some interesting filmmaking stuff to it. But enough of this "so innovative because it shows us a POV from X". Like that Violent Nature film that purported to show us what it would be like to follow Jason around instead of the campers...guess what, Jason does a LOT of walking, so who thinks THAT'S interesting to watch?
Presence is from the POV of a ghost haunting a house. If you enjoy walking up and down the stairs inside a house, you will LOVE this movie.
I think my next movie will be from the POV of a tree in the woods where Jason kills people. Only thing is, most of the kills won't in the sightline of the tree. Maybe one or two. The rest you just hear, as you stare at the same goddamn spot, ala that new Zemeckis Here movie that I haven't watched yet, but sounds boring.
Then we saw Flight Risk, which the critics don't like but the viewers do. It was okay. Would have been better if I hadn't see the trailer. Again, no poster to take a picture with, and it was the #1 movie that week.
This past Thursday we saw Companion, and that's a good movie. I had dodged the trailers completely, so knew NOTHING going in. Something's pretty obvious right away, and I was thinking "I hope the filmmaker doesn't think this is gonna come as a surprise"...
But the writing is clever. This movie goes places I didn't expect, which is SUPER rare...and is a ton of fun. Best movie I've seen so far this new year.

Last night, the kid and I sat down to watch both Ttory movies on blu ray.
First things first, he enjoyed them. He thought they were "scary". I could tell he wasn't very happy about the fact that nearly very segment ends on a down note...he likes happy endings almost as much as Tray from the first Ttory movie. (inside joke for those who have seen it)
There is a quick glitch on the T1 movie--I could live with it. It flashes by so fast I think people would just assume it's their blu ray player...hell, maybe it WAS my player.
Thing I can't live with though is that when the movie's over...it starts again. Not sure how I could have forgotten to point that timeline back to the menu. So I gotta fix that.
The sound...fuck, man. Not even talking about the segment that wasn't mine, where he ended up having to use camera sound...some of the girl's audio in the wrap around...her mic got turned off or something for some takes, so I ended up using the Tray-actor's mic that caught her dialogue.
Couldn't pump it up too high, or the ambient gets very loud on those cuts, so you'd hear everytime we "cut" to her audio.
But with how much technology has changed in the 9 or so years since I edited it...I might be able to improve it. Hell, I PROBABLY can...
Do I wanna put in MORE work at this point though? Ugh...
