The Eyes Have It

Boy them medical bills pile up, don't they?

I'm finally at the point I'm about to get the whole implant process done re: the tooth. One side of my mouth has been missing a tooth for over a year. I had to go through the whole pull then put the implant in, then wait for it to heal, etc.

They just took the impression now that the whole thing has settled, and speaking of settling, I had to settle the last part of what I owed. I spent nearly $3K on the dentist alone--and I have great insurance, btw--but they hit me with another $1300 bill.

So I'll now have spent nearly $4K on one tooth.

Meanwhile, my wife needs cataract surgery on both eyes. She just had to get glass to even see distances, but since she got them, her eyes have already outgrown that prescription due to the cataracts.

But insurance isn't covering cataracts. No idea how they make that call. Are your eyes optional to your life? Because if she can't see, she can't work, and then she doesn't pay for insurance...

They're about $3500 per eye, and guess who's gonna have to pay that? This guy...

So bottom line...gonna be some tight months coming up. I make some good money, but not so much that I can drop $10K in a month and feel okay about it.

Yesterday was the first super bowl I've missed in a long time. Was going to go to the movies, but apparently a lot of people decided to do that so I backed out. My kid doesn't care about the game either, so I asked him if he wanted to come over and watch a movie.

He did, so I showed him Cabin in the Woods. The strange part of it is that he hasn't seen all those cabin in the woods movies that this basically deconstructs, so not sure it made a whole lot of sense to him. He seemed to like it anyway.

Shame this movie didn't do a lot better. There are so many cool monsters and ideas, that I'd love to take a whack at a script. Obviously would have to be a prequel cuz of how the movie ends...

Speaking of scripts, did another pass at the T3 script, the modified version to take out one of the actors since he turned into a non-responsive A-hole.

REALLY wanna finish the Xmas script. Meant to, but got sidetracked--it's still on my mind, as is the book regarding time travel of sorts. That one keeps calling to me with ideas and scenes, but until I can really nail what happened in the past, it's impossible to map it all out.
