Off To Fun

 

Man, was she hot. And how come nobody told me before now that she goes topless in a movie called Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw that is streaming for free right now on Tubi?

Why do I even keep you people around? (and it's about the 11:20 mark if you wanna check it out. Damn, does she look amazing in this movie...)

Took off today and am going up to the convention. A lot of my regular people may not be there--no Dom, no Malf. Stewie and Zig will be there, but not sure how long Zig will stay.

Will head back Sunday. I decided to enter a contest that's looking for a book trailer. The author is gonna be in my H-ween antho. I wasn't sure I was going to do it, but then I got the details on it and combed through some stock video and found some stuff I could use.

I've sort of rough assembled it now, but have to come in and work on the transitions and audio FX.

We'll see if I have any good con stories when I get back.

No Idea

 

 Every week is a fucking blur, man. It's just getting worse.

Hours of meetings every day where we all discuss ways to figure out what we're doing, but every day brings more questions. It's a clusterfuck, and frustrating, and I don't like frustrating. I'm a problem solver by nature, and I can't problem solve when I don't know what the fuck the problem is other than that we don't know what the fuck the problem is.

We went out to eat for my wife's bday, but this week sucked because it's been a year since her dad died, so she's even worse than usual(which is pretty bad.) 

We went to our normal steak place, and of course this time they fucked her steak up. She got the filet mignon(we both get it), and ordered it medium well. It came out cooked medium like mine, so she sent it back. It took a while and came back charred. Weirdly, parts of it still weren't cooked while other parts were extremely overcooked. 

There was also some fat in it, which is a no no on these things. They took it back and got her a new one, but by then I was done my meal and she'd eaten her potato so she only ate one bite and took the rest home. The funny part though was that they brought her a new baked potato every time a steak came out, so we brought home three baked potatoes. (even though we told them we didn't need the third potato)

Then this weekend--the first big auction with this new system. It had issues but performed okay. Just took a lot longer each day. 

Anyway, gonna be a short week cuz I took of Friday so I can have a four-day weekend. Going to a horror show on Friday through Sunday. Looks like I may also go hang with the Malf Thursday--he wants to talk over some stuff.

 

Movies & TV

 

Watched the Night Agent on Nflix. Pretty compulsive viewing, if incredibly hard to believe at times. Then moved on to Beef, which I'm not quite finished yet but it's very good. I'm not usually into dark comedy but this is very well done. No idea who the creators involved are.

Went and saw Guardians 3 again, this time in 3D. Very good movie. I think it's definitely Marvel's best trilogy.

Saw Hypnotic tonight, which is Robert Rodriguez's new movie. Quite a huge disappointment. It feels like he wanted to make a Christopher Nolan movie but didn't have any big crazy ideas, so went with an old trope about hypnotism. 

The REALLY crazy part is that they say this thing cost 70 million...and unless Affleck took 40 million in payment, I have no idea where they spent it. There's a number of places where there could be a cool morph effect, but they just use cuts. It's basically what I'd do for the effect, and my budgets are like 10K.

Otherwise, took it pretty easy this weekend, which is nice. Next weekend I have an auction...so that's a fucked weekend.

 

 

Time Blur

 

I dunno how nine days go by and I can't really remember what happened there.

I finished editing the videos and uploaded them. Had the weekend off and did...nothing? Well, not nothing, finished proofreading all the stories other than one. Also, got the editor's notes back regarding MY story and man, is it interesting to see what an actual editor notes.

I'd say I agreed with about 95% of what he pointed out, and changed them. A couple of minor things that I left in. Knocked out about 200 words, which is cool. I think it's definitely stronger now.

Finished the WIP of the anthology trailer, sent it to a couple of people to check out and give me notes on what they like/don't like. I'll also end up adding in the cover of the book when I get it, but THAT'S another thing...

See, I commissioned a cover from a guy but I also asked my regular poster guy to do one. I figured I'd put one on the paperback and the other on the hardcover but here's the issues:

• I may not do a regular hardcover, just a limited. Like, a REAL nice limited hardcover...but I'm not sure how that will look. Like, you can't really print a nice image on a hardcover, so I either have to put a dustjacket on it--which isn't really usual for a limited hardcover--or a hardcover case, which is a little more usual but I'm not sure how great an image looks on there...
• I don't know when I'll get both images--the first one is done, at least the image is. He's got to do the title, the contributors, and then the spine and back, but I didn't actually realize he was going to do that. He can't do it all without knowing how many pages the book is, and that's a ways out. That's the issue there. Also, I gotta figure out what the back is gonna say. I fuckin' hate trying to write summaries.

Work is getting BAD, man. Everything's changing, and nobody seems to really understand what's going on. Not looking forward to this.

 

Another Week

 

Thursday night, went out with the Malf. We hit that same bar restaurant we did last time, and it was funny, trivia night again. So we said fuck it, we'd do it again. Drinks, dinner, and trivia. And we got creamed again...

Pretty sure these people are cheating, and the lady running the thing doesn't seem to care. She SAYS to put phones away but you can see people have them out...and when they're getting EVERY answer right...seems suspicious, cuz not all of these are easy questions.

Like, offhand can you tell me what the name of the gum that the girl in Willy Wonka ate that made her blow up was? Would you be able to name the artist of the painting The Great Masturbator is? Then the last question of every round was a song that you were to name the song and artist, and each round she played a very R&Bish song to this crowd of VERY white preppie people...

Afterward we headed back to the firepit and drank and chatted. Turns out it was his birthday at midnight--and he bought dinner, so now I felt bad. Well, not that bad. I've gotten him a lot of great gifts in the past. 

He's hard at work on his newest book, has to turn it in by June I think. It's actually the story that got optioned for a TV show a while back, but that fell through so he's just making it a book. (and then it can get optioned again, for more money, I'm thinking)

Saturday, another fucking video to shoot, then work on editing all weekend. Still not done.

Been working on the book trailer. Have a rough minute of one. Doesn't really do much other than give you who the authors are plus the titles of their stories, and if pause at points you'd be able to read the opening paragraph of each story.

Not sure what else to add. Has some pretty graphics and pictures. I don't have the cover to the book yet, but when I do, that'll go in.

Work continues to brutalize me. Same old. It's just going to get tougher from here, so I'm just trying to prepare myself mentally for how much stress and frustration is in store for me.
