Packet Loss / COD / Weight Update

Been having a lot of packet loss issues lately when I play games. Not sure what it is. My router is about 5 years old, so could be that. Modem's about the same.

I took the router of the equation and tested it, and still got packet loss, so not it's either: The modem, the ethernet cable or an ISP issue.

I went ahead and ordered an ethernet cable cuz they're cheap. After that, I'll have to buy a new modem...

Speaking of games, I was playing the new COD free game--the battle royale game--with my brothers because they both like it. I don't. It's so poorly designed, in so many ways.

First, they're letting console players go up against PC players. How stupid. Nobody on a console wants to compete with the accuracy and speed you can get with a mouse, or the  hacking that can be done on a PC.

Next, everybody moves like the Flash. Aim-assist makes sure everybody is great at the game. You can throw C-4 about 100 feet at a speed car, land it and blow it up. You can also run a chopper into buildings and trees and the ground in an attempt to kill people on the ground, and your chopper will not get damaged. Drop-shotting still works. (I want to make a video of an actual soldier standing up, instantly dropping flat and killing people, then just popping back up to illustrate how fucking STUPID it is.

I finally had enough. Two nights in a row I got sniped in insane circumstances. The first, I was in the back of a speeding truck, and some dude sniped me from a few blocks away. (I saw the killcam and recorded it)

Next night, I know there's a guy in a building, so I'm sprinting in a ZIG ZAG patter and this guy just points his sniper rifle my way and one-shots me.

I uninstalled the game right there. What a POS.

I'm 193 as of yesterday. But I'm dreaming of pizza...gotta get some soon...

How's Your Pandemic Going?

The busy train continues for me.

I've shown the rough cut of every making of segment for T2 to Zig. It's somewhere around 100 minutes long if you add them together. I'll knock it down to prolly 40 minutes for the blu ray, and keep the longer version for myself. I think he enjoyed it, but he was there so he's biased. There's way too much talking heads in it, but that's sort of to be expected since we didn't have a BTS camera guy for the most part.

Bad news--they canceled the other convention I was supposed to be a guest at. The one I ordered those dvds for, so that sucks. But on the good front, I can take my time on these T1/T2 combo Blu Rays since it's off.

Still...was looking forward to it.

-----

Remember that buddy of mine who'd asked me about whether I was interested in a job being a software tester? We weren't sure if my having a medical marijuana card was a deal breaker on the clearance I'd need.

He finally got back to me--he didn't have a definitive answer other than it didn't APPEAR to be a deal breaker. He wants me to submit my resume.

So that meant I had to really get my resume together. Take off the non-applicable shit and make it look like it's not from 1992.

Doing that now. Apparently they do a ton of work in SQL, which I'm not familiar with, but I watched some Youtube videos and it doesn't seem that complicated for a computer language. (I mean, shit, you want complicated, go program in Cobol--that fucking language took a page of code to do what Basic could do in 3 lines...)

Went over to Malf's for beers and chats. One of his band-mates was there, and I swear to God this conversation happened when director Z Snyder came up:

I say, "Why does anyone think the Snyder cut of JL is going to be good? Haven't they seen Man of Steel or Batman V Superman?"

The bandmate says, "Man of Steel was good. It was better than any of those shitty Christopher Reeve movies."

I feel like I didn't hear him right. But clearly I did. Malf and I are both like, "Are you shitting me?"

The guy's says, "All the special effects are terrible in those movies."

I say, "They literally put Chris on wires attached to a crane and FLEW him in the air. What's fake about that?"

He says, "Yeah, and it looked like a guy on a crane."

It's really hard to argue with that kind of stupid. Like, Reeve is LITERALLY flying in those shots. But he prefers what looks like video game graphics...that's more realistic? It's insane.

Anyway, the guy stayed most of the night so we didn't get much writing chat done. My buddy Johnny really wants to do this trailer, but I'm of a mind that I'd rather just get the movie script in shape and let Malfi's agent sell it, make us both some money.

So I think I'm gonna tell Johnny it's dead, see if he wants to try any of the other things we put down. However, the location securing is still something I have no idea how to do in this pandemic.

If you haven't watched Episodes on Netflix, you really ought to. Such a funny, well-written show. I laughed out loud at least once each episode, and this was my second time watching it--I originally saw it when it was on about five years ago.

Just started season 2 of Umbrella Academy. Good so far.

Dull Boy

Great, blogger has a new shitty interface I'm so tired of companies changing their formats and making them shittier. I guess Google's all about that, cuz they did it to their Youtube Studio, and it's shitty as can be now.

Anyway, been another whirlwind week.

I delivered that trailer script and everybody loved it. Malf thought it was great. He told me thought it would be very hard to do a good trailer, but as soon as he read my version he could immediately see it. Then my actor buddy read it and flipped out. It was perfect, he said.

Then I get two texts from Malf--Call him right away. I'm thinking...this is strange.

Apparently he talked to his agent about some of his other stuff that's brewing--this is his "movie/TV" agent--and the guy sort of flipped out when Malf mentioned what I was doing. Near as I can figure it, it's because the agent has no idea who I am, or who the producers involved in this are, so he's afraid that someone's gonna take this property and make it dogshit, when he's busy trying to build Malf's "brand".

The agent wants to know a bunch of shit that I don't know. Malf says, "He wants to read the script". Not the trailer script. The whole script.

This is the draft I did months back, the 170 page script that's way too fucking long unless you're Quentin Tarantino. I was never going to shoot that draft--it's just a pretty faithful adaptation that would need major work to get to 120 pages.

I tell him all this, and he's like, "Just let him see it so he can see you can write."

I take a day and do another pass on the script. Knock out about 10 pages and make sure there's nothing bothering me too much other than the length. I think it's pretty good other than that.

Malf sends it to the agent. Two days later the agent gets back to Malf and tells him, "Yeah, this guy can write. It's way too long, but it's good."

So that's nice. On the other hand, he wants to have a meeting(virtual, of course) with me about this. So I told the actor buddy to hold off on this, as I don't know what exactly to do about all this.

Went back to editing the making of T2. You can see a little clip here if you wanna see some of what we had to go through:

I finished a rough cut of every segment. Now I have to go through on some more passes, then put them all together in a long version for me(and cast who care), then cut it into a shorter version for the blu ray. (probably 30-40 minutes long).

Then author a blu ray, create all the graphics for the cover and disc.

All the while, doing 100 other things. Finished the new vids for the auction company, then had a two-day auction this week. It's actually pretty weird having enough money to do a few things right now instead of having to constantly sweat to pay all the bills.

Am thinking about building a new edit computer, since I could use one. (the one I've been editing on is 10 years old. Still runs like a champ for the most part, but it does struggle a bit with the high bit rate 4K that my Sony camera puts out)

The new build would cost nearly $3000 if I built the super computer that I want. That's nearly double what my old machine cost, but this thing would eat 4K like it was nothing. It would probably outlast me.

And oh, I'm 196 right now. That's 31 pounds in about 6 weeks. Not bad for a dude about to turn 50 years old. All it really takes is will power and the ability to realize that being hungry all the time isn't that big a deal.
